I’ve been aware of the New York Times RSS feeds that correspond with their newspaper sections for a while now and subscribe to a few. But today I discovered a new source of NYT RSS feeds: Times Topics.

Times Topics seeks to provide simple access to the contents of NYTimes.com. Each topic page collects all the news, reference and archival information, photos, graphics, audio and video files published on the topic on NYTimes.com.

The topics are broken down into several categories: People, Subjects, Organizations, Places, and Ongoing Coverage. Each individual topic has its own RSS feed. For example, if you were interested in agriculture, you could subscribe to the feeds for agriculture, farmers, and U.S. Agriculture Department. My big question is how would you link these RSS feeds to your local library’s subscription database for the NYT? Some of the links are for TimesSelect items which you have to pay for on the NYT site. Still, I think it’s a great way to stay current on certain predefined topics.
